Getting ready for Fiafia

night. A fiafia night is where people perform different cultural events. My fiafia group is hawaiian, and I think it’s really fun because we learn all the different moves.

The dance is looking fantastic now that we know all of the moves, also our costumes look amazing.When we all sway our skirt turns sideways.The costume we have to wear is a grass skirt, white singlet and something black under the skirt.

The thing I enjoy about fiafia is watching everyone performing their  moves. I can’t wait to see everyone's costumes. I hope  I don’t make any mistakes.

Catching Eels

We have been reading an article about how to catch eels with a hinaki. This is a net made of wire netting that traps the eel inside. Here is a diagram to show you how it works.

Brooklyn Omaru Creek testing for- colour

Testing Omaru Creek for - I am going to find out: What colour the water is. I am going to test this by:comparing different water samples from the culvet, the bridge, the tap and the sea Resources and equipment: 4 water samples from the sea, the bridge,the tap and the culvet I predict that:tap water will be clean,culvet water will be dark,sea water will be dappled and the bridge water will be dirty. I think this because: Results of my tests Sea Water was cloudy Tap water was clear and clean Omaru Creek water by culvert had bits of rubber off the road floating inside the water. Omaru Creek water by bridge was light green My conclusion (what I found out): That the creek had bits of rubber from the road in it. Why I think this is: The sea water is clear because of the salt thats keeping it nice and clean.

I am going to find out: how clear the water is

I am going to test this by: getting some water samples and testing the water by putting the words behind the jar

Resources and equipment: the water we’ll be using is tap water, sea water, bridge water and the culvert water

I predict that: the bridge water sample will be the dirtiest.

I think this because: there is a lot of plants and rubbish.

My conclusion (what I found out): That in Omaru Creek there a catfish making the creek dirty.

Why I think this is: because they a digging up the mud underwater.
