ANZAC memorial

Last Friday P.E.S had their very own memorial on our field of remembrance. Our field of remembrance is not that big it is only the size of a little sandpit. The reason why it is only little is because the names of the people on the crosses were the ones who lived around our area like GI and Panmure. All of the crosses have a names on them except one because they couldn't identify the soldier, so instead they named it Known unto God.

On our school wall where our field of remembrance there is a painting of a soldier carrying an injured soldier and a poppy at the back of the soldier. The painting was done by our associate principal Mr Jacobson. I think the painting is really cool because he worked really hard on that, and it looks really good.

At the end of our school assembly all of the students headed to our field of remembrance to do a little memorial. When all of the students were outside we had to put the little junior kids in the very front then it went little, big, bigger and biggest which was the year 7 & 8’s. We were all squished but we still had to work with it.

After a few squishy tight minutes Mr Jacobson was playing the bugle horn off YouTube, when the song was finished our school prefects were doing a speech. “ alright we need a minute silence to remember those who was in the war” Mr Burt said so all of us stood silently in a squishy area.

When our memorial was over all of the year 7 & 8’s went to line up first and walked to class, then it was the year 5 & 6’s and so on.

Happy ANZAC day

Happy ANZAC day everyone!!!! Today is ANZAC day and that's when everyone has a long weekend to remember the soldiers who had risk their lives in the war to save our country. Today is also the 100th year since WW1 ( world war one) happened. A lot of people usually go to the dawn parade held at the Auckland museum, the dawn parade starts at 3:00 or 4:00am.

At the dawn parade there are lots of poppies and crosses that have most of the soldiers names on them, if the people can't identify the soldier it would say Known By God. Our school has a little box filled with grass and has a crosses with the name of the soldiers that used to live around our area. I think 30 crosses have names and one has Known By God, In the front there is a bigger cross that has some words on it with a poppy next to it.

On one of the walls of our school we have a painting of a poppy and then a soldier carrying a hurt soldier, it was painted by our associate principal Mr Jacobson. It looks really cool. He spent a whole school day painting the wall because it was a really big painting to.

The reason why we have poppies for ANZAC is because a lot of the soldiers died on a field and a lot of poppies grew out of the grass, the field is called Flanders field.

Zeal Zone Soldiers

This is what we had to learn about in my Zeal Zone group. First we had to make a slide about the soldier and what weapons and other stuff they needed. Later on we then had to make up a chant that has 5 facts about WW1.

ANZAC letter ( Not real letter)

Here is my made up letter for my follow up this week. I am asking the girl's grandfather in the story about how it was taking part in the war.
